Over the whole year 2019, it is estimated that 3 239 people died on the roads of France mainland, 9 fewer than in 2018.
Fatalities are stable on motorways, decreasing on rural non-motorway roads (-76 deaths) and increasing in urban areas (+68 deaths).

Overseas

In French overseas territories, 19 people died on the roads in December 2019,  1 fewer than in December 2018.

Over the whole year 2019, it is estimated that 254 people died on the roads of French overseas, 14 more than in 2018.
