Passenger vehicles

3 quarters of roads death occur in accidents involving cars.

A quarter of the motorists killed are seniors. It's the same proportion for young people between the ages of 18 and 24. Half of the motorists killed are killed in a single-vehicle accident.

Between 2000 and 2010, the number of motorists killed decreased by - 60 % (- 8.9 % per year on average). Between 2010 and 2019, the number of motorists killed on the road has declined by -23,4 % (a decrease of -2.9 % per year on average). Then, between 2019 and 2021, the number of motorists killed has declined by 6.6%..

In 2020, 18-24 year olds represent 25 % of motorists killed while they constitute 8 % of the population.

Motorists aged 65 and over accounted for 27 % of motorist deaths in 2021 (19 % in 2010 and 16 % in 2000) for 20 % of the population (17 % in 2010 and 16 % in 2000).
