April 2020 Road Safety dashboard

In April 2020, 110 people were killed on French roads, in France mainland or in French overseas territories.

The introduction of population containment from 17 March 2020 as part of the management of the Covid 19 crisis has greatly reduced all travel, particularly individual or leisure travel.

France Mainland

In France mainland, 103 people died on roads in April 2020, 130 fewer than in April 2019. The decrease concerns all categories of users but to varying degrees: few deaths among professional drivers in utility vehicles and heavy goods vehicles, a two-thirds decrease among vulnerable users (pedestrians, cyclists and motorized two-wheelers), and fewer than half among car users.

Overseas

In French Overseas, 7 people died on roads in April 2020, 16 fewer than in April 2019.
