3rd Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety: Achieving Global Goals

Organizer WHO and Sweden
from 19 February 2020 to 20 February 2020 - Sweden, Stockholm

Every year road traffic accidents kill 1.35 million people around the world, causing human suffering but also major economic losses. The 3ᵉ Global Ministerial Conference will address different aspects of road safety with a view to making roads, vehicles and mobility safer for road users.

In April 2018, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution, according to which Sweden would host the 3ᵉ World Ministerial Conference.

It will be held at the Waterfront Congress Center in Stockholm, from 19 to 20 February 2020, and will be co-sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Road safety issues, their consequences and possible solutions will be addressed, including several aspects related to sustainable development. Representatives from industry and research, global institutions and international organizations will participate.

This conference will mark the end of the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety (2011-2020). The objective of the conference will be to find a global consensus on a guideline to continue international collaboration on road safety issues. The Decade of Action 2011-2020 will have encouraged action at all levels of society, and above all on national and local authorities.
